Fundraisers

Fundraising is an integral part of Area 1 Special Olympics. Money raised is used to pay for the sports practices, registration fees, transportation, lodging, food, equipment and tournament trips that everyone enjoys.

All money raised in the three counties stays in Area 1 and supports all program expenses.

If you would like to make a tax deductible donation to Area 1, please send payment to Area 1 Special Olympics, P.O. Box 275, Wells, MI 49894.

Volunteers

Area 1 is always looking for anyone who would like to volunteer, coach or chaperone. We can always use help at out local events or on the Area Management Team. New volunteers are Always Welcome! If interested, please give Joyce a call.

Spring is definitely in the air and things are happening in Area 1. 

Upcoming Events:

 

  • Swimming
    Practice will begin on March 29, 2012 at the YMCA in Escanaba from 4:15 to 5:15 pm. Please note TIME CHANGE of 4:15 to 5:15 pm.

    ***Aquatics tournament in Sault Ste. Marie on April 20-21, 2012.***

  • Celebrity Basketball

    The annual Celebrity Basketball Fundraiser will be held on April 15, 2012 from 1 - 4 p.m. at the Menominee Catholic Central School, 1406 10th Avenue in Menominee from 1 - 4 p.m. (CST). If anyone
    has raffle prizes, please let Joyce kinow. Raffle tickets are being printed. If anyone would like to sell or purchase raffle tickets, please let Joyce know.

  • Catalog Sales
    Catalog sales are currently being sold. If anyone needs a catalog or wishes to order anything, please let Joyce know. Orders and money should be turned in by April 6, 2012.
  • Track & Field

    Track & Field practice will begin on April 11, 2012 at the Escanaba Sr. High School from 6 to 8 pm. The Menominee County practice will be held at the Menominee High School from 6 to 7 pm on
    April 10, 17, 24 and May 1. Practice will be held at the Stephenson Sports Complex from 6 to 7 pm on April 11, 18, 25 and May 2.

  • The UP Spring Games
    will be held in Escanaba on May 4/5, 2012 at the Escanaba Sr. High School.
