Spartan Stores 2011 Healthy Athlete of the Year Autograph Signing

Nicholas ‘Nick' Cross felt a sense of pride as he signed autographs at a Spartan Store location on Friday, May 18. At the 2011 State Summer Games presented by Spartan Stores, Nick was named the Spartan Stores Healthy Athlete of the Year for an exemplary effort toward wellness, including a balance of mind, body, and spirit, and initiative in leading other athletes to do the same. Nick's photo appears on limited edition Spartan brand Cranberry Juice Cocktail. His image is also part of the promotional material used in the Spartan Stores family of supermarkets, for the sale of paper medallions used to raise money for Special Olympics Michigan athletes.

VG's Fresh Market in Brighton, welcomed Nick for his scheduled autograph signing, excited for members of the community to hear his story and get an autograph. Nick was thrilled the entire time, stating that the experience was both "exciting" and "fun." Nick proudly signed specially designed trading cards while sharing how eating better and exercising has led him to a healthier lifestyle and the honor of being named Spartan Stores Healthy Athlete of the Year.

Nick will have the honor on Thursday, May 31 at 6:30 p.m. of leading the Athlete Oath at the 2012 State Summer Games Opening Ceremonies. He will also be signing more autographs, with sports figures and pageant title holders from around the state, including Miss Michigan Elizabeth Wertenbergeron on Friday, June 1 from 3 - 4:30 p.m. at Central Michigan University's Event Center Atrium. Nick has been a great representative for Spartan Stores Healthy Athlete of the Year and continues to inspire others with his healthy lifestyle.
