Divisions

We have a total of 72 soccer teams coming to this year's event. We have 34 five‑a-side teams, 35 seven-a-side teams and 3 eleven-a-side teams. Information on divisions is taken from the results of last year's games, roster information sheets, games played, and from the pre-divisioning conference call to be held on, Wednesday, October 7. Each team is required to submit the results of three games played against other Special Olympics teams. These results should be turned in to the state office no later than 12:00 p.m. on October 5, 2009. Game schedules will not be e-mailed to area directors and coaches. The size of the 7 a-side soccer field will be 10 yards wider and 19 yards longer than the 5 a-side fields. Approximately 750 athletes, 250 coaches and chaperones, and 250 volunteers are expected to attend the State Soccer & Cycling Finals. The cycling competition offers 15 events, and the soccer competition offers 4 events.

Saturday, October 16 Schedule

6:30 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. Breakfast (at hotels)
8:00 a.m. Cycling Registration
9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Soccer Tournament at Halmich Park Fields
9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Fun Fitness Program at Halmich Park Fields
9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Individual Skills Test at Halmich Park Fields
11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Lunch at Halmich Park Pavilion (wristbands/badges are meal ticket)
