Truck Drivers and Community Members Invited for the September 26th Event
The World's Largest Truck Convoy (WLTC) for Special Olympics is an annual event, which unites law enforcement and truckers to raise funds for Special Olympics athletes. More than 3,000 trucks throughout the United States and Canada – big rigs to dump trucks - will traverse 1,000 miles during this Guinness Book of World Record breaking event. Join us at one of three locations in Michigan! Join us at the end of any convoy for lunch, auctions, entertainment and fun!
Trucking companies and truckers commit to a minimum donation of $100 per truck as a registration fee (registration fee can be raised through pledges at www.firstgiving.com/somi) for the World’s Largest Truck Convoy. Trucking companies also bid additional sponsorship funds to win the coveted spot of lead convoy truck.

Working with Special Olympics Michigan athletes is part of club wide community service for NorthStar Soccer Inc. soccer club players in Traverse City, Mich. The club practices at the Keystone Soccer Practice in Grand Traverse County. Players dedicate one practice a week to work with athletes from Area 2 (Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska and Leelanau Counties). “We love it! It’s absolutely fabulous working with the athletes,” said Coach Darryl Rogers.
NorthStar was founded in 1994 on the belief that working for something greater and beyond themselves gives young people a tremendous life experience. Each NorthStar team participates in team-based community service projects. The service is an essential part of the NorthStar mission to utilize soccer as a vehicle to teach and reinforce the lessons and rewards associated with the pursuit of excellence. Their mission is much bigger than soccer. MORE
