Labor Day: How it came about; what it Means
Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.

THANK YOU SPECIAL OLYMPICS MICHIGAN VOLUNTEERS!
This Labor Day weekend we would like to thank the thousands of volunteers who make Special Olympics Michigan programs possible for 17,000 adults and children in our state with intellectual disabilities. To those of you who have volunteered once, one year, one decade or three decades, we appreciate each and every one of you!

You labor without wages to provide opportunities for athletes to experience the joy of athletic training and competition, increase self esteem, have a chance for social interaction with their peers and others, and learn valuable life skills. You make a difference in the lives of others! Your contributions have made a difference in the strength and well-being of our programs and mission. Most importantly, you have reached out and touched lives to make a positive impact! Thank you!
