Your car donation will help serve over 23,000 athletes by offering Olympic-style individual and team sports opportunities to children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
How to Donate Your Car

Go online or call (888) 828-0022 to fill out the donation form. Provide us with some information about your vehicle and where it will be picked up.

A towing agent will contact you within two to three business days to arrange a pick up time most convenient for you.

After your car is sold, you’ll receive an email that includes a tax receipt.

Question: What vehicles can I donate?
Answer: We accept all types of running and non-functioning car donations. Trucks, SUVs, motorcycles, boats, snowmobiles, planes, heavy machinery, trailers and RV's are accepted on a case-by-case basis. If you have questions about a vehicle you’d like to donate, call us at (888) 828-0022.
Question: Do I need a title to donate my car to SOMI?
Answer: If you can’t find your title, you’ll have to apply for a duplicate through the MI DOS. When you donate a car to Special Olympics MI, you’ll sign your title over to Advanced Remarketing Services. You will print and sign your name as the seller. If you have any questions about filling out your title, give us a call at (888) 828-0022.
Question: How much money does Special Olympics receive from my car donation?
Answer: Our partners at Advanced Remarketing Services return 75-80% of the gross selling price for your car donation back to Special Olympics, the highest of any vehicle donation program!
Question: Will I receive a tax receipt?
Answer: Yes! Within 30 days of the sale of your vehicle, you will receive an email with a tax receipt for your car donation which includes:
- The gross selling price of your car, if sold for greater than $500.
- Vehicle year, make, model, and VIN.
- A statement that the vehicle was sold at arms-length between two unrelated parties.
- A statement that no goods or services were received in return for your donation.
