Law Enforcement Torch Run® (LETR) Run Week is an opportunity for law enforcement, corrections personnel and community members to run shoulder to shoulder, raising money and awareness for Special Olympics Michigan athletes.
LETR Run Week is proudly presented by Subway.
Donations made at more than 600 local Subway restaurants in September will help provide funding to promote active lifestyles for nearly 23,000 Michigan athletes.
During Run Week, additional LETR members will be making the nonstop 750-mile relay that starts in Copper Harbor in the tip of the Upper Peninsula and ends downstate at Belle Isle. This is known as the Central Route run and starts early on September 11, and ends on Friday September 18. This relay is composed of three teams; Michigan State Police, Fraternal Order of Police and Michigan Department of Corrections. Each team has at least 6 runners who each run a five mile leg. Each team runs 30 miles at a time. These runners have been raising money all year so they can participate in the event. LETR has more than 85,000 law enforcement officers involved worldwide and has raised more than $300 million dollars in the 39 years that it has supported Special Olympics.
Each year Subway supports charities and philanthropic organizations through corporate donations and sponsorships to encourage active lifestyles and help make the world a better place. The Subway system is committed to providing a wide range of great tasting food choices while reducing the environmental footprint and creating a positive influence in the communities they serve around the world.
