In preparation for one of the major events of the year, Special Olympics Michigan (SOMI) athletes are diligently training for the 2022 State Fall Games. Starting the last week of August, the 2022 State Fall Games will feature a number of single-player and team sport competitions, at various venues statewide, primarily in the Southeast region.

At the events, athletes from across the state will showcase their skills in the state finals for flag football, soccer, cycling, softball, and golf. The in-person events are expected to draw in more than 1000 competitors. Presented by the Real Estate One Charitable Foundation, this year marks the ninth year for SOMI Fall Games.

“At Real Estate One, our employees live by the philosophy ‘You get what you give’,” said Jennifer Essary, SOMI Board Member and Foundation Manager, REO Charitable Foundation. “Volunteering and supporting athletes and Unified Partners at Fall Games and events throughout the year fuels joy within our company and the communities we serve. Just as these competitors inspire us, we hope to empower their mission to spread a message of unity.”

This event continues Special Olympics Michigan’s return to in-person competition following the COVID-19 pandemic. Special Olympics Michigan is committed to providing the best athlete, volunteer, coach, and supporter environment possible.

“We are excited to continue our return to in-person competition,” said Tim Hileman, President & CEO of Special Olympics Michigan. “Like our State Summer Games we held in June, seeing our athletes return to the playing field brings us such joy. We are thrilled to see our Michigan athletes comeback after a long couple of years”

While we are excited to resume in-person events, the health and well-being of all participants continue to remain our top priority. Thus, all of our in-person events follow the COVID-19 CDC local municipality guidelines.

Real Estate One Charitable Foundation and the Family of Companies have been long-time supporters of the Special Olympics Movement and are true advocates for the Inclusion Revolution. Additional State Fall Games sponsors include Amerisure and Ally Financial.
