Red Wings team with SOMI for Hockeytown Cares Night

Be a part of a fun night with the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday, March 10 as they host the Carolina Hurricanes on Hockeytown Cares Night! Handy Middle School in Bay City has been recognized as a Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools National Banner program. Handy is one of approximately 350 schools in the U.S. to receive the honor this year.

Michigan Unified flag football teams take their place among Ford Field champions

Six Unified high school flag football teams competed at Ford Field on November 30 with teams comprised of Special Olympics Michigan athletes and high school students.

Poly Hockey and Unified Bowling State Finals return to Lansing area Nov. 23-24

More than 1,100 athletes from 50 counties across the state will compete in the Special Olympics Michigan Poly Hockey and Unified Bowling State Finals in Holt and Lansing from November 23-24. The Poly Hockey Finals will take place at Holt High School’s main and north campus locations with he Unified Bowling Finals, which features athletes with and without intellectual disabilities competing together on the same teams, being held at Royal Scot in Lansing.

Special Olympics Michigan transforming former school into world's largest Special Olympics facility

Special Olympics Michigan has purchased the former South Christian High School campus in Byron Township and will transform the former Grand Rapids area school into the Special Olympics Michigan Unified Sports & Inclusion Center.

The Special Olympics Michigan Unified Flag Football team from Holt that captured gold at the 2018 Special Olympics USA Games in Seattle has been honored by its community with signs commemorating their accomplishment.
